About ICARE

Colonie Central High School ICARE began as an initiative where both faculty and students could have a common forum to express and affect change for the better in our school community. As it stands in a basic form, ICARE is a character building program that uses five cores values to shape our decision making. The ultimate goal is that students and adults in the Colonie community understand and enact the ideologies of: Integrity, Community, Accountability, Respect, and Empathy as defined through the many interactive teachings of ICARE character and community workshops.

Pathways to Heroes

Colonie Central High School and its student-run ICare group are expanding the Hill of Heroes, a tribute to military personnel and first responders, envisioned by John Lawler (Class of 2016). Established in the spring 2016, recent additions include a retaining wall, a seating area, and a commemorative stone from the Class of 1965. Community members can now honor their loved ones by purchasing commemorative stone pavers to be added to the memorial.

Kind Human Award: Celebrating Kindness

In a world where kindness often goes unnoticed, Colonie Central High School's iCare students are on a mission to honor unsung heroes. The Kind Human of the Year award celebrates those who embody everyday kindness—whether lending a hand, brightening someone's day, or positively impacting the Colonie community. The award is named each spring.
